Two Teen Best Friends L0st Life to Drunk Driving

On Long Island on Wednesday night, a suspected drunk driver all*gedly struck and kἰlled two young lads from New York.

According to a news statement from the Nassau County Police Department, Amandeep Singh crἀshed his 2019 Dodge Ram into a 2019 Alpha Romeo carrying four teens when he was driving south in the northbound lanes of North Broadway in Jericho.

Police reported that two 14-year-old boys were pronounced d*ceased at the scene. Ethan Falkowitz and Drew Hassenbein have been named as the dead victims in court records, according to CBS News and the Long Island Press.

The other two lads, ages 16 and 17, who were in the car also sustained internal injuries but were listed in stable condition at a nearby hospital, according to authorities.

According to authorities, shortly after the original collision, the adolescent’s sedan struck a 2023 Volvo that was transporting a 49-year-old woman and a 16-year-old kid. The two only sustained minor w0unds.

According to Det. Capt. Stephen Fitzpatrick, Falkowitz and Hassenbein were eighth-grade tennis players from Roslyn who were coming from a match when the trἀgedy occurred. Both boys apparently excelled on the varsity team.

“Ethan was an easy going, happy kid that only saw the good in people and was liked by everyone he came in contact with,” reads a Facebook post from their sports team. “He was loving, caring, compassionate and did not have a bad bone in his body. He was the ultimate team player who was hard working and very skilled.”

The statement said:

“Drew was one of the hardest competitors and someone that was so dedicated and motivated to achieve his goals. “Everyone who interacted with him admired and respected him for his kind soul.”

Tennis instructor Jay Harris told CBS  aforementioned News that the teenagers were close friends and had contagious personalities. Harris remarked, “They were just two guys that people loved to be around.”

According to ABC7 NY, which cited authorities, Singh attempted to flee on foot before being apprehended by police and all*gedly had a bl00d alcohol level.18, which is more than twice the legal limit.

According to ABC7 NY aforementioned, Det. Capt. Stephen Fitzpatrick described the sight as “probably one of the most catastrophic scenes I’ve seen in a long time.” When the driver hit the automobile with the kids inside, “it was almost like the car expl0ded.”

According to a news release from the police, Singh was arraigned on May 4 on accusations of aggravated vehicular h0micide, first-degree vehicular manslἀughter, second-degree manslἀughter, leaving the scene of an accident involving a fatality, driving while int0xicated, and two counts of second-degree assἀult.

“There is no doubt that this is a trἀgic event, but as I stated in court, this is a law-abiding man otherwise,”
